Dance, Music, Theater

As part of the cultural programs ICEC offers, students are encouraged to participate in number of ICEC’s extracurricular activities.  These activities allow students to learn folkloric dances, Persian music and acting.  Interested students can register for these programs at the beginning of the school year.  Practice sessions are lead by older students or alumni experienced in the particular activity.  The practice sessions are usually held on Saturday afternoons.

  • Persian Dance Troupe (PDT): Persian Dance Troupe was founded in 1992 by Saba Sohail Ghadr-Boland and Nasim Ebrahimi. The main mission of the PDT has been to further awareness of Iranian culture.  Over the past several years, the PDT has changed from a small group to a vibrant representative of Iranian culture.  Interested students can register at the beginning of the school year.  Practice, at which the students earn folkloric dances, occur during the school year in preparation for performances at ICEC’s Nowruz and other community events.  The current year instructors are: Tara Manzari and Elika Semnani.

  • Young Iranian Musicians (YIM): The Young Iranian Musicians (YIM) was founded in 2000 by Shady Fakhrai.  The main mission of the YIM has been to give the students of the center and other interested students an opportunity to play Iranian music as an ensemble. The students who already know to play a musical instrument and are interested in joining YIM, can register at the beginning of the school year. Practice sessions take place throughout the school year in preparation for performances at ICEC’s Nowruz celebration and other community events.

  • Young Iranian Performers (YIP): The young Iranian Performers (YIP) was founded in 2005 by Keyvon Roshdieh.  The main mission of YIP has been to boost the confidence of young performers and showcase different aspects of Iranian folktales and literature. Interested students can register at the beginning of the school year.  Practices occur during the school year in preparation for a performance at ICEC’s Nowruz event.
